Una Odissea  - An Opera in one act
composed by Guido Morini, Libretto by Marco Beasley
The twentieth century brought important changes in the world of music: for the first time attention was almost exclusively concentrated upon works of the past. Thanks to recordings, that which was once entrusted to the sensibility and memory of the listener (who was physically present during the performance) had become accessible (transformed into pure sound stimulus) at any moment and in any place. Professional figures and roles have become increasingly specialized, creating an unstoppable trend toward the theorization and fragmentation of skills. We find ourselves today celebrating (often without much enthusiasm) a rite which is increasingly incomprehensible for audiences who are increasingly unmotivated and disinterested. We ought to wonder about the role of "cultured" music in the contemporary world, and search for answers by following a personal path which is neither market-oriented nor subordinated to cultural trends. The activity of Accordone takes its inspiration from the values, poetics and skills of the seventeenth-century musical world. We would like to credit ourselves with having blazed a path toward the avant-garde in the vast field of historical performance practice.
